APPLY FOR ARTOMAT WALK!

The exhibition space is this time a bit transformed and concepted as an expert guidance named ArtOmat Walk. This art walk will consist of modern and historic art subjects, studio visits and conversations with contemporary artists who live close to the Mestrovic pavillion.

SHORT DESCRIPTION:
Cultural topography of Zagreb on the route from Trg žrtava fašizma to King Tomislav Square as it once was and in the present.

We’ll be walking through 150 years of long and tumultuous history of the Croatian Society of Artists (HDLU) and 80 years of the building itself with its numerous changes in purpose.

We will visit some of the numerous artist ateliers nearby (Josip Tirić, Vlatka Škoro, Ivan Prerad), recall of those who acted on this route (Trokut, Kaloper, Vaništa, Bukovac, Murtić, Džamonja..). Beyond that we will also touch upon other events and phenomena important for the cultural memory of the city such as Kinoklub Zagreb or the editorial office of Studentski List and Oko papers, both very important media back then, and also the former student dorm Moša Pijade as well as the group Biafra.

The walk starts at 18:00 in the HDLU lobby, on Thursday, 20th December .

The estimated duration is 2 hours.

Due to the limited capacity of the group, please apply with name, surname and mobile phone number at artomat.hdlu@gmail.com

Host: Marta Haraminčić, travel guide (professor of art history and professor of pedagogy).
