This year Austria is invited to the 2nd Biennale of Painting with the exhibition named „Vienna Calling“. The title of this exhibition does not remind us just on a same named song of the Vienna’s eccentric pop musician Falc, but it is also known from the English translation of the Ivo Goldstein’s book: „Croatian History“, which at one point deals with the relation between Zagreb and Vienna around 1848: „Croatian politicians sent a committee to Vienna calling on the Emperor to convoke the Croatian Sabor, and demanding preservation of the territorial integrity of Croatia and its closer links with Austrian crown lands.”
„Vienna Calling“ Exhibition represents current tendencies of the painting: it is about big spacial moments, change of the perspective and about context. And sometimes it is just about the color.
