The location: « La Maison Pressée »
La ”Maison Pressée” is an artist run space, managed by the association “Polymorphe”. This association aims at implementing artistic, cultural and citizen projects with and for the inhabitants, in public places, and more particularly in abandoned or unoccupied locations. Since 2015, this collective transforms unused places into spaces for meeting, reflexion and collaborative creation.
Since May 2021, Polymorphe is settled in a four-floor-building, located in the heart of Rouen at 9 rue des deux anges, called LA MAISON PRESSÉE. This place includes artists’ studios, an exhibition hall, a recycled material center and 2 apartment-studios with a shared kitchen.

AiR Rouen / CreArt program
Within the framework of CreArt 3.0, the city of Rouen and the association “Polymorphe” launch a residency for 2 artists, one from Rouen and one from the Creart network.
The CreArt artist will be settled in a combined work-studio and apartment-studio;
The artist will be guided and shown around by the members of La Maison pressée. They will advise the artist in their work, make him/her discover cultural places and organize events to introduce him/her in the local artist’s community and the neighbourhood (brunch, workshops, openings);
_During the AiR will be defined one open day for visitors;
_A final public presentation of the works created during the residency will take place from at the end of the residency from October, 11th to the 13h;
_ A final report (in English) must be provided after the residency.
Conditions and stipend
The organization will cover, for both artists, the material costs (up to 400€), subsistence costs (500€) and will provide 1000€ as artist’s fee.
The city of Rouen also takes in charge travel expenses to Rouen [up to 500€] and accommodation at la Maison Pressée.
Who can apply?
The residence is open to professional artists (art and design degree) within the Creart 3.0:
– Artists resident in one of the cities in the project network: Kaunas (Lithuania), Liepaja (Lithuania), Skopje (North Macedonia), Aveiro (Portugal), Valladolid (Spain), Lublin (Poland), Venice (Italy), Clermont-Ferrand (France), České Budějovice (Czech Republic) and Oulu (Finland);
– Artists-members of HDLU (Croatian Asociation of Fine Artists);
– Ukrainian artists through our collaboration with Public Organisation Lviv Artistic Council «Dialogue».
This call is intended to professional visual artists with a wild range of medium: drawing, engraving, illustration, video, installation, collage, new media, painting, performance, photography, sculpture, design, textile, graphics, micro-editing. For logistical reasons, monumental creation cannot be offered.
A particular attention will be paid to artists who interrogate the environmental impact of artistic production in their work.
More generally, the artist should be close to the values of the association (sensitivity to ecological values, DIY spirit, recycling and Low Tech) and their lifestyle: the place is vegetarian/vegan and cat friendly.
