Erasmus+ is a European educational and cultural exchange programme. Within the framework of Artists for Art Education, once a year Styrian artists offer their studios, time, and expertise to young future artists from Croatia for two weeks. At the end, the students’ results are presented. Already eight times Croatian students have worked with Styrian artists. Around 150 young people from the cities of Zagreb, Osijek, Split, Zadar, Pula and Rijeka as well as the accompanying professors have benefited from this exchange so far. Countless further contacts have been made and some students have successfully applied to study art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna or completed a master class at the Ortweinschule in Graz.

At the end of each Erasmus+ programme, the Croatian students present their works at a professional exhibition venue in Graz. Over the years these presentations have been perceived with great interest by the art-loving public in Graz. The city’s cultural institutions and artist collectives such as Roter Keil, Schaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus Graz, Galerie Centrum and the master classes of the Ortweinschule Graz are constant partners of this encounter. Of course, the vibrant city of Graz itself is an inspiration and a place of opportunities and experiments.

Now, seventeen Styrian artists have been invited to present works from their current artistic production in the Maestrović Pavilion at the Croatian Association of Artists HDLU. These works deal with individual as well as social conditions, combined with aesthetic questions of our time. A variety of materials and media in which the artists express themselves are used, such as painting, drawing, graphics, photography, ceramics, installation, sculpture, and video.
