Martin Eugen Raabenstein
POOR MAN’S ALPHABET
PM Gallery
June 20 – July 9, 2017
Martin Eugen Raabenstein’s solo exhibition POOR MAN’S ALPHABET will be open on Tuesday, June 20 2017 at 7pm in the PM Gallery of the Home of the Croatian Association of Artists.
Martin will present to the Croatian audience a series of artwork dealing with the relationship and mutual permeation of drawings, painting and calligraphy.
Martin Raabenstein reminds us that the line is a gesture, a moment of grasping inner comprehension, since the action of gesture itself (regardless of subject) is a means to convey feeling and/or intention. It implies movement and sentience of the part of the maker, a moment of affirmative consciousness as well as the possible comportment of a thought. The hidden visible of the gesture is the unseen but implied space of visualised communication, which can be aesthetical or opinionated, ethical or self-revealing.
Mark Gisbourne, October 2014
The exhibition was financially supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and the City Office for Culture, Education and Sport Zagreb.
