“Homage to the leaves” is an exhibition, an experimental attempt to make a tapestry out of birds made of pressed fallen leaves, which were collected over the past four years. The work will be floating on the round space in the Bačva Gallery of HDLU.
Zagreb could be characterized by a healthy ground where abundant of trees grow many of them reaching up to the top of the buildings with stable trunks, and noticing how much we benefit from giving us a big impact of each season. This exhibition will be held dating towards the end of Fall, after the leaves fill the city in bright yellow light. “Homage to the leaves” in the memory of moments when we get courage admiring the beauty of these leaves, and for the little sign of appreciation to the nature long existed many millions of years before we existed.
On a cold, cloudy, fall day, a big tree was full of yellow leaves. They were ready to fly, like little birds, their stems barely attached to the branch, waiting for one big blow of wind. Under the soft sunlight filtered by the clouds, they were wiggling their bodies with excitement. ONE, TWO, THREE, they flew, like birds, so freely.
